Hello Great Minds!
I’ve been missing in action for the past few weeks, but I’m back to check in with you all and see how you are doing with your 2018 reading goals.
I can’t believe it’s already mid-November and that 2018 will end next month. It feels like we were just setting goals and working on vision boards not a long time ago, right? Yet another reminder that our time is precious and we should use it wisely. Time does not wait for us. There may be moments in our lives when we need to hit pause or reset for different reasons (like I recently did); however, we need to keep our goals in mind and work towards reaching them as much as we can.
I’m currently reading my 11th book for this year and plan to end the year with Michelle Obama’s Becoming. I pre-ordered it and just got it in the mail today.
And who knows? I might even be able to squeeze in another book before the end of the year.
Also, I’ve been constantly updating my “To Read List” so I’m not trying to figure out what I would like to read next year. I already have quite a few books on my list to kick-off 2019.
I really recommend this approach of maintaining a list of books you would like to read. Any time you hear about a book you would like to read, add it to your list. The list will keep growing and I find that this pushes you to read more and faster as you always want to get to the next book on your list. You may never get to read some of the books on the list, and that’s OK.
What about you? How are you doing with your 2018 reading goals? Whether it was to read 1 book or 20 books.
Honestly, what matters is not so much the number of books you read or listen to, but that you read/listen to something this year. Also, if you haven’t had time for a book this year, as you work on your goals for next year, consider including it as one of your goals for 2019.
As Joseph Addison said it so well, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”. You never want to stop learning? Read.
Until next time…
