This post is way overdue as I was planning to write it mid-year, so technically in June. But hey better late than never! I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe it is already August! Where does time go? This is yet another reminder that we must be intentional in life in general. In fact, time keeps on going whether we are keeping up with it or not; therefore, we need to make sure we manage it as much as we possibly can, so at the end of the year we don’t find ourselves wondering what we’ve accomplished. Yes, life is busy, there is so much to do, but we need to make time for what matters.
One of the things that matter to me is personal development through reading. As such, my objective is to read at least 1 book per month. If I keep up with my current reading pace, I am definitely on my way to meeting and even exceeding this goal. Overall, I have been reading professional development/self-help books mixed with some fiction and spiritual books.
So here is a list of what I have read so far this year:
- I started off the year with two amazing books that reminded me of the way God sees me despite all the imperfections in my life. Whether you are a Christian or not, I highly recommend Your Liberty In Christ and You’re Already Amazing! They will both impact your life in such a powerful way.
- The Millionaire Next Door will teach you that being wealthy is not about how much you make, but how much of what you make you keep/save. This book will definitely make you think twice before assuming that someone is rich or not rich just based on appearances. The book will show you that more often than not, appearances are deceptive! Check it out!
- Needless to say that Successful Women Think Differently is a must read for all women! See my review of the book here.
- As an introvert, Quiet helped me understand why I behave the way I do, but most importantly it helped me understand that being an introvert has its advantages too! A must read!
- If you can read in French, you will love this novel by amazing Senegalese writer, Nabou Fall.
- If like many people you are still wondering what your life purpose is, this book is what you need! See a review of it here by my friend Solange Lopes of The Corporate Sister!
- Born A Crime…I only have one word for this book: AMAZING. Check it out!
So these are the books I have read so far this year.
I am currently reading Smart Women Finish Rich by David Bach, a book I wish someone had told me about at least 10 years ago; and Dave Ramsey’s Complete Guide To Money.
What have you been reading? Let me know in the comments.
Until next time…
